Eligibility Criteria

To become a Government Teacher it is very important to understand the minimum required education to get recruited for the post of Government Teacher. 

For  PRT

Qualification

The basic degree to be a Government teacher is to have a Bachelor’s degree in Education or being a graduate or those who are graduates in home science can be recruited as a school teacher. 

The aspirant should have 50% of the aggregate mark either in postgraduate or in graduation or have a degree in education or diploma. The candidate needs to clear the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) to be a teacher at the PRT level.

For  PGT

Qualification

The candidate should have a B.Ed degree or post-graduate degree to get selected for such a post. There is no need for the aspirant to appear for Teacher Eligibility Test (TET).

For TGT

Qualification

The applicant should have a B.Ed degree which makes the teacher expert for secondary level. You need to crack the TET exam to get enrolled for the TGT post.

Eligibility Criteria for Courses

Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) 

To apply for B.Ed you need to have a graduation degree from any authorized university with a score of 50%. To be a teacher these days there is a compulsion of having a B.Ed degree. 

Nursery or Elementary Teacher Education Program

They need to clear the 12th board with a minimum of 45% score.

Physical Education Program (C.P.Ed.)

The applicant should have 12th or any equivalent certificate with a 45% mark or being a National or State sports participants

Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.Ed.)

The candidate should have a three years bachelor degree in physical education or the aspirant have achieved first, second or third rank in any game tournament or sports or athletics or have certified NCC course or have represented the state or is trained for a year in sports coaching or journalism, sports or yoga, etc.

Pre-School Teacher Education Program

The candidate should have completed the 10th exam to enroll in the pre-school program.

Master of Education Program (M.Ed.) 

The candidate should have completed a B.Ed degree with a score of 55% and then can enroll for the Master of Education Program that is M.Ed.

Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) from Open University

You can pursue this course from an open university too. The aspirant should have a graduation degree from any stream and from a recognized university with 50% of aggregate or have a master’s in Commerce, Science, Humanities and Bachelors of Engineering or technology with 55% aggregate. 

The teacher selected for such should be trained in Primary Education for two years or finished the NCTE Teacher Education program

(D.Ed.)/ Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.Ed.)

The minimum qualification required to get admission in this is the same as that of a Diploma in Education.
