What is CRPF?

CRPF was formed on 27th July 1939 and was known as the Crown Representative’s Police Force after independence, on 28th December 1949, it became the Central Reserve Police Force, and today it is one of the largest paramilitary forces in India.

CRPF or Central Reserve Police Force is a police organization which completely works under the Indian 

Government and the jobs assigned by this organization are governmental jobs.

The main role of this institution is to maintain all the rules and laws written in the Constitution of India to maintain the peace and legacy of India, for which it selects candidates and appoints them who are also known as CRPF jawans.

Full form of CRPF

The full form of CRPF is the Central Reserve Police Force which is a Central government police organization and which is controlled by the Ministry of Home Affairs the Indian Government.

Job roles under CRPF

CRPF is one of the biggest paramilitary forces in India and has various job roles listed below:

Constable – 10th pass candidates are specially taken on the post of constable in CRPF. The job of the candidate appointed to this post is to obey the orders of the officers of higher positions when there is any activity in the city and country.

Head constable – The candidate appointed as head constable of CRPF should go and do duty in the riots happening in the stock. For appointment to this post in CRPF, a candidate has to be at least a 12th pass.

Sub-inspector – The post of Sub Inspector or SI in CRPF is the post of an almost officer whose job is to report to his superior i.e. Inspector and to give commands to his junior officers. For appointment to this post, a candidate must have a 12th and graduation pass.

Assistant sub-inspector – ASI is the rank below SI in CRPF which is the most responsible for the platoon and is in charge after SI. The candidate must be 12th pass for appointment to this post in CRPF.

Assistant commandant – The post of Assistant Commandant in CRPF is one of the biggest and most responsible officer-grade posts, whose responsibility is to lead the soldiers in the field and take all the important decisions. As it is a Grade A officer rank post, a candidate must be a graduate for the appointment.

How to Join CRPF

There are many posts in CRPF, in which the candidates are appointed according to their qualifications and eligibility. Exams are taken by different institutes for different ranks of recruitment in CRPF, which we have told you in detail below.

How to Join CRPF after 10th

There are different types of posts under CRPF, where the post of constable comes first. So if you are 10th pass and you have a 10th/matriculation certificate from any recognized board then you can become a constable in CRPF. 

To become a CRPF constable, you need to fulfill the eligibility criteria which I have mentioned in this article in detail below and then you can apply for the SSC GD examination taken by the Staff selection commission or SSC.

What is SSC GD?

SSC stands for Staff selection commission was formed on 4 November 1975, which is an Indian Government based organization whose main role is the selection and appointment of staff in government offices and departments of India. This commission takes various exams and appoints staff from various parts of India to different governmental posts.

SSC GD which is also known as the staff selection commission GD constable exam is a part of the SSC examination which SSC takes annually. This is a National level exam where 10th-pass candidates get a chance to be selected for a constable job. So if you want to become a CRPF constable then you need to clear the SSC GD examination.

Eligibility Criteria for CRPF In SSC GD

To apply for the SSC GD constable examination, there are some eligibility criteria given by the commission in their official notification which you need to fulfill, then only you are allowed to apply and appear in the exam. The eligibility criteria for the constable are as follows:

Nationality: To join CRPF, the candidate must be an Indian citizen. Also, if he/she is from Nepal or Bhutan and has citizenship there, then also he/she can apply for this exam.

Educational Qualification: For getting recruited in CRPF as a constable, a candidate must have a 10th/matriculation degree from a recognized board or organization.

Age limit: As per CRPF norms, a male/female candidate must be at least 18 years or a maximum of 23 years.

Age relaxation: For every category of the candidate there is an age relaxation provided by the commission which is as follows:

How to apply for CRPF SSC GD after 10th

If you want to apply for the SSC GD exams then you need to follow some easy steps given below:

  • Go to the Official Website of SSC i.e. SSC.nic.in.
  • Create an account and login using the Id password provided by the commission via mail or SMS.
  • Fill out the application form for SSC GD and upload all the details like photo, signature, etc. Carefully.
  • Make sure that the details filled by you in the application form are correct because once you submit the form then you won’t be able to make any changes.
  • Make fee payment which is, ₹100/- for General/ EWS/OBC candidates and ST/SC, and women are not required to give any exam fees.
  • Once your fee payment is done, your application is submitted and all you need is to wait for the SSC GD admit Card.

SSC GD Exam Pattern 

If we talk the SSC GD exam, then it is taken in 4 stages, in which you need to clear all four stages. We have told you about it in detail below.

Stage 1: Written Exam

In the first stage of the SSC GD constable examination, the candidate is required to pass a CBT or computer-based test exam which is a written exam, and there the candidate is asked 80 questions of 2 marks each which are objective questions. Stage 2: Physical Standard Test (PST)

Stage 4: Medical Test

At last, there is a medical test where the candidate is checked whether he or she is having or suffering from any chronic or any other kind of serious disease. If you are found medically unfit then you may be out of the competition and get rejected by the commission.

How to Join CRPF after 12th

Students who are 12th pass from a recognized board and have a government-certified 12th or intermediate certificate, get a chance by CRPF to get recruited for the big posts of CRPF like head constable, Inspector, Assistant sub-inspector (ASI), etc.

Candidate needs to pass an exam of CRPF this exam is conducted by CRPF in 3 phases and before that, they need to fulfill the eligibility criteria of CRPF whose details I have given below.

How to apply for CRPF after 12th

If you’re 12th pass and thinking of how to join CRPF after the 12th then just follow these steps:

  • Go to the official website of CRPF i.e.  www.crpf.gov.in.
  • Create an account and login.
  • Open and fill out the application form for CRPF exams.
  • After filling in all the details check it correctly because you cannot make changes once you submit the exam form.
  • Pay the examination fees to the CRPF commission.
  • Once you are done with the fee payment, wait for the response of the CRPF officials and your admit card.

Exam Pattern for CRPF

To get selection in CRPF on a 12th basis and get appointed as a head constable, sub-inspector, or assistant sub-inspector you need to give the CRPF exam in 4 stages detail of which you will get below.

Stage 1: Written Exam

How to Join CRPF After Graduation

To get recruited in CRPF on a graduation basis, you have to clear the UPSC exams which are taken every year. UPSC conducts the CAPF or Central Armed Police Force examination in which only those students can apply 

This exam is taken in various stages, in which first you have to clear paper 1 and paper 2 as a written test, then comes the physical efficiency and medical standards test where it is ensured that you are physically fit Not to join CRPF. And lastly, there is an interview and personality test.

What is UPSC

UPSC is called the Union Public Service Commission, which is an institution of the Government of India whose job is to select and appoint Grade A officers in India through examination.

In India, if you want to become an IAS officer or an IPS officer, you must crack the exam taken by UPSC. To join CRPF, you have to pass the CAF exam which is also conducted by UPSC.

Students who clear UPSC exams can become Administrative Grade A Officers at National Level, State Level, and Districts Level all over India. For this UPSC takes an exam in 3 rounds in which the candidate must pass, writing skills, physical fitness, and interview sessions.

Once you clear this exam and interview, you are appointed by UPSC to the post of a Grade A officer and you get a chance to contribute to the service of this country. The ranks and posts that you are supposed to get as an officer depend on your performance in examinations. The better marks you score in the examination, the higher and better rank you are appointed.

How to apply for CRPF After graduation

If you completely fulfill the eligibility criteria given for the UPSC CAF examination, then you can easily apply for this exam. This exam is conducted by UPSC, which you can apply online sitting at your home, and for this, you have to pay some money as an examination fee. And you can fill out this exam form as follows:

  1. Go to the official website of UPSC i.e. https://www.upsc.gov.in.
  2. Create an account by signing up and filling in all your details.
  3. Login using the id password provided by the commission.
  4. Select the examination for which you want to apply for.
  5. Upload all the necessary documents (photo, signature, etc.) And carefully choose the examination center and double-check that the details filled by you in the exam form are correct or not, no changes can be made once you submit the form.
  6. At last pay the examination fees. Here general and OBC candidates need to pay ₹200/- as examination fees whereas SC/ST /female aspirants are not needed to pay any fees.

CRPF Exam Pattern For Graduate Candidate

Many people dream of getting recruited into CRPF, which is why the competition regarding this job is very tough and people prepare for this exam by studying hard day and night. To get admitted to CRPF, you have to pass the CAPF exam and this exam is held in 3 rounds, about which we have told you below in detail:

Written Test

The CAPF exam is conducted by UPSC and consists of 3 rounds first comes the written test exam in which you are asked both subjective and objective type questions. The pattern of this exam is as follows:

Paper 1: Paper 1 comes in the first phase of the written test in which you are asked questions of General Ability and Intelligence and all these questions are completely objective.

Paper 2: In paper 2 of the CAPF exam you need to answer subjective questions of General Studies, Essay and Comprehension.

Physical and Medical Tests

If you qualify for the written test of the CAPF exam, then now comes the second round of this exam in which you have to give a physical test. If we talk about physical tests, then you must fit according to the notice and physical standards given by UPSC, whose information you can get below.

UPSC Syllabus for CRPF

If we talk about the syllabus of the CAPF exam taken by UPSC, which leads to the appointment in CRPF, then it is very similar to all other civil service exams, where most of the questions will be asked from India’s History, Geography, Politics and India and International level. Current affairs are asked. I have explained the CRPF exam syllabus in detail below, it is something like this:

Written Test

Paper 1, General Ability and Intelligence (Objective) of 100 marks.

  • General Science,

  • Indian Politics, 
  • Indian Economy.

Paper 2, General Studies, Essay and Comprehension (Subjective) of 100 marks.

This subjective paper is taken in Two parts, where in Part A you are asked questions based on:

Part A:

  • Indian History.
  • Growth and Freedom movements.
  • Geographical Aspects,
  • General Mental Ability.
  • (Reasoning, quantitative aptitude, data interpretation).
  • National and International Current affairs.
  • Long Narrative Essay Questions.

Part B:

  • Comprehension and language skills.

Interview

In the final round of CAPF exams, your interview is taken which is of 100 marks and in this, you are asked questions on General Awareness, National and International Current Affairs along with your subjective and honors paper taken in graduation.

Selection process

Since the CRPF has different types of posts for different candidates and due to this SSC takes the examination of CRPF lower rank posts and UPSC takes examinations for the upper ranks posts. So they both have their different selection process which is given below:

CRPF Selection Process for 10th/12th

The SSC GD and CRPF Selection process for the CRPF employees is given below:

  • Here the candidate needs to give a computer-based examination where all the Objective Questions are asked.
  • After the candidate qualifies CBT examination, they are informed to report at a specific date and place at a specific time where they need to give a PET or Physical efficiency test the details of which you will get below.
  • In PST or Physical Standard Test the chest and height of the candidate are measured and need to be within a specific range as per SSC rules.
  • Here it is checked that the candidate is suffering from any kind of chronic or dangerous disease and if He/she is then they are rejected and if not then get selected.

Once the medical procedure is completed, the candidates wait for the merit list and after that, they go for the document verification process.

UPSC Selection for CRPF

As soon as you apply for the CAPF exam, your CAPF admit card is issued by UPSC about 3 weeks before your exam. After which you have to go to the exam center given by UPSC on the prescribed date and time and give the exam. And the CRPF selection process goes something like this:

  • First of all you need to give the paper 1 examination of the Written Test which is objective.
  • Once you qualify the paper 1 of the prelims examination of CAPF, you will be eligible and get notified to appear in writing test paper 2 or the subjective mains examination.
  • After qualifying for this written test you will be notified by the commission to go to their prescribed center where you will give medical and physical Efficiency exams.
  • Now if you do well in physical Efficiency and medical tests and the commission finds you a perfect candidate for CRPF they will inform you to give an interview and personality test on a specific date, time, and place where you need to appear in several interview sessions in front of some high ranked officer.
  • If the jury members select you for the interview and personality test then your dream is almost complete. And now all you need to do is wait for your joining letter.

Once you qualify for every round of the CRPF selection process you will receive a joining letter where your rank and posting will be assigned by the CAPF and UPSC commission.

The salary of a CRPF officer is under the 7th pay commission where the pay scale of the candidate is about ₹15,600-₹60,600/-. The detail of the salary structure of the CRPF is as follows:

Grade pay: ₹ 7,200/-

Pay scale: ₹15,600-₹60,600/-

Basic Salary: ₹ 25,000/-

Net Salary: ₹ 30,000 – ₹35,000/-
